Steps To Avoid Further Damage To Your Property

Always call a professional when water damage occurs.  Water damage and bacteria growth can start to damage your property within a few hours.

  • Use a mop and towels to remove as much water as possible.
  • Remove area rugs and loose carpetings that aren’t attached to your floor.  Don’t remove installed carpeting.
  • Remove any hanging draperies off the floor.  We recommend taking a coat hanger and hanging it from the drapery rod and looping your drapes through the coat hanger to keep it off the floor.
  • Wipe excess water off of furniture and move furniture cushions to an area where they can dry.
  • Place aluminum foil under furniture legs.
  • Move photos, wall hangings, art and other delicate items to a dry location.
  • Leave books on shelves.  Pack them tightly to prevent page warping until our trained technicians can begin drying them.
  • Open closet doors, cabinets and other drawers to help begin the drying process.
  • Open drawers, closet and cabinet doors to enhance drying.

Here is what you shouldn’t do:

  • Don’t enter any room with standing water until you are sure all electricity is off.
  • Don’t use your household vacuum cleaner to remove water.
  • Don’t attempt to remove installed carpeting without professional assistance.
  • Don’t remove or disturb visible mold.
